Hello Darlings!
A couple of joyful events took place recently: I gratuated from sewing school and... got married! I made dresses for both of these occassions and will definitely share a lot more details about each one once I get back from vacation (em, honeymoon, actually!). So stay tuned!
One more thing happened in beginning of June - I joined Burda influencer team, formed by 10 wonderful ladies! (to find more about this project and see entire team click here). Burda magazines played significant role in my sewing journey right from early days and I am truly honored to be part of this project. Each month I will make one project from Burda Style website and today I would like to share my first one - Peplum Blouse 07/2015 No.114B.
Though peplum is not at the peak of popularity at the moment, it's one of those features that are always in style for their timeless hour-glass shape look. Peplums go great with my pear-shape figure, so once I had this pattern cut out, I decided to make 2 versions with it: sleeveless gingham for more dressy look (as in original pattern, with no modifications) and more relaxed knit version for colder summer evenings (modified pattern by adding sleeves and removing elastic band from the waistline).
GINGHAM VERSION
Pattern: Peplum Blouse 07/2015 No.114B
Pattern adjustments: none, sewn straight as it comes in the pattern.
What I like most about this pattern is the band at the bottom of the blouse, as it gives a clean finish and pulls entire peplum nicely down.

GREY KNIT VERSION
Pattern: Peplum Blouse 07/2015 No.114B
Pattern adjustments: added 3/4 length bell sleeves (self drafted, does not come with the pattern); skipped adding the elastic band to the waistline, for more relaxed look when not wearing with belt.

Quite honestly, the blouse was rather easy to make, but I received sooo many compliments wearing it - this top really has that 'wow!' effect. Hope you liked these looks!

I've made this one as well in a stretch cotton sateen (no sleeves) and i've got quite a few compliments for it as well; needed to make alterations on the back and neck area (excess material that bunched up). Glad to have discovered your blog, i sew exclusively from Burda but i'd like to get to know how to make my patterns as well at some point, yet i still have alot to learn until i get there. Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration! <3
